Local content is one of the curricular activities aiming at developing the students’ competency that is compatible with characteristic and potential of the local region. The South Kalimantan provincial government has issued and implemented a penal provision No. 3 year 2009 about local content: Al-Qur’an Education. Thus, the Balangan Regional government has also to implement this at schools.
The objective of this research is to recognize and describe the implementation of the curriculum of Local content: Al-Qur’an Education at State Middle School of Paringin 4 as well as at State Middle School of Lampihong 1.
This research is descriptive in nature. phenomenology approach. The research subject is the principal, the vice-principal, curriculum section, teacher of local content: Al-Qur’an Education, and students. Eventhough the research object is the implementation curriculum of local content: Al-Qur’an Education in State Middle School of Paringin 4 and State Middle School of Lampihong 1 of Balangan Regency. The collecting information was done by three base techniques, that is interview, observation, and documentation study. While, the data analysis after collecting data.
According to the result in the field of study can be summarized that local content: Al-Qur’an Education’s teachers at both of schools have tried to apply this curriculum from planning, action (doing), and assessment. eventhough, there are so many things that is not suitable yet with expectation through penal provion publication. Whereas, there are support factors influenced to this implementation that is teacher competency principal’s support hampers factor that is students’ ability, limited of facility.
